Jake Paul Knocks out Andre August

Image
Jake Paul claimed a first-round knockout as a right uppercut sent Andre August to the canvas; Paul's professional record improves to 8-1; Paul: "I'm focused on being the best in the world and creating one of the greatest sports stories in the history of sports." Paul, 26, fought at cruiserweight (200-pound limit) to increase his credibility as a title contender after facing former MMA fighters in his first six bouts. August, 35, is a career professional boxer who has last fought in August after a nearly four-year layoff and had a five-bout winning streak. Paul (8-1) unleashed a right uppercut that floored August (10-2-1, five KOs) and the referee stopped the fight at Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando with 28 seconds left in the first of eight scheduled rounds. Paul has claimed five of his eight professional victories by knockout, with his only defeat coming on points earlier this year against Tommy Fury. Despite the modest nature of his opponents to date, the former a...

FEATURES SCHEDULE RESULTS RANKINGS VIDEOS FORUM SIGN IN / JOIN Anthony Joshua Gives His Take on Deontay Wilder, Francis Ngannou, Tyson Fury BY  JOHN EVANS Published  Thu Dec 14, 2023, 04:32 AM EST 11 comments If we take Anthony Joshua at his word, the heavyweight division could be in for some explosive, exciting nights over the coming years. The two-time unified champion sat down with TNT’s Laura Woods to promote his fight with Otto Wallin on the massive upcoming ‘Day of Reckoning’ card in Saudi Arabia.  Asked to describe Tyson Fury, Francis Ngannou and Deontay Wilder with a single word and to then describe how fights between he and his heavyweight rivals would play out, Joshua spoke about his peers more candidly than we are used to hearing. After describing Fury as a “diva,” a relaxed Joshua spoke freely about how and why he would beat ‘The Gypsy King’ if and when they meet.  “Good fight. Too quick, too strong, he can’t lean on me, can’t throw me about and I’...

FEATURES SCHEDULE RESULTS RANKINGS VIDEOS FORUM SIGN IN / JOIN Frank Warren Gives His Take on Dubois-Miller, Joshua-Wallin, Bivol-Arthur CHRISTMAS IS  QUICKLY closing in but, before we contemplate tucking into any turkey, we will encounter our Day of Reckoning in Riyadh. Yes, probably the most bumper card in the history of boxing is nearly upon us and this significant sporting segment of Riyadh Season takes place on December 23 at the spectacular Kingdom Arena. As you will all be aware by now, this card features eight major showdowns that will go a long way towards shaping what fights we have got to look forward to in 2024. I won’t ramble on about them all in one column, so I will pick out four this time and cover the rest when we land in Riyadh to kick off fight week. Obviously a fight with particular interest and personal investment for me is between Daniel Dubois and the big, brash American, Jarrell Miller. This is something of a make or break fight for Daniel, where he n...

CHRIS COLBERT: TOO SHARP FOR ISAAC CRUZ

Image
Fighting at 135 pounds was meant to be a passing fancy. Instead of fighting in the super featherweight division, Chris Colbert wanted Bert to make his lightweight debut against Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela. Even though it wasn't easy, Colbert managed to win. However, given how close their first encounter was, the two made the decision to try again.  Colbert is confident history will repeat itself without a doubt. That means that he will defeat Valenzuela once more the following weekend at The Armory in Minnesota.  Colbert supposedly had second thoughts after initially saying that his period of weight at 135 pounds was an isolated incident. He's trying to get settled now.  Colbert's head trainer, Coach Sosa, is impressed with his youthful fighter.  Colbert's head trainer, Coach Sosa, is impressed with his youthful fighter. He is aware of Valenzuela, but he is not alarmed by their impending confrontation. They will have a plethora of options if Colbert's thoughts materializ...
