CHRIS COLBERT: TOO SHARP FOR ISAAC CRUZ
Fighting at 135 pounds was meant to be a passing fancy. Instead of fighting in the super featherweight division, Chris Colbert wanted Bert to make his lightweight debut against Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela. Even though it wasn't easy, Colbert managed to win. However, given how close their first encounter was, the two made the decision to try again.
Colbert is confident history will repeat itself without a doubt. That means that he will defeat Valenzuela once more the following weekend at The Armory in Minnesota.
Colbert supposedly had second thoughts after initially saying that his period of weight at 135 pounds was an isolated incident. He's trying to get settled now.
Colbert's head trainer, Coach Sosa, is impressed with his youthful fighter.
Colbert's head trainer, Coach Sosa, is impressed with his youthful fighter. He is aware of Valenzuela, but he is not alarmed by their impending confrontation. They will have a plethora of options if Colbert's thoughts materialize and he breezes to the finish line.
Frank Martin and Colbert (17-1, 6 KOs) have a long history together. Though they aren't ruling out a matchup with the top-seeded competitor, Sosa recently disclosed that they would be prepared to arrange a dance partner for Isaac Cruz if necessary.
Naturally, Cruz is obsessed with Gervonta Davis. Since their first meeting, the native Mexican has won three in a row. However, Davis wants Cruz to go on.
Sosa has been keeping an eye on Cruz from a distance, primarily because of his recent rise in popularity rather than because he is expecting a fight between Cruz and Colbert.
Cruz has undoubtedly demonstrated during the previous two years that the hyperbole used to characterize him is accurate. Notable are his ferocity and knockout power. Nonetheless, Colbert would be able to leverage his tendency to apply constant pressure against him.
